RECLAMATION - Composition video

Image
The best and most difficult part of FVD.  My groups members were Abhishek, Anjana, Ashin, Gajalakshmi, Rishikesh, Rashi, Kuldeep and Vipin. Coordinating within a group of nine members and that too virtually was the toughest thing until we gave it a try. Our theme was to depict the impacts on earth as a result of COVID 19. Starting from past to future where we conclude saying that somehow we need to live with it is all about the story.  Working in a big group was confusing we had to change the themes in between, shift to different backgrounds to build the connection since transformation was our concept. Those were the sleepless nights on zoom calls. I needed a person to shoot the entire video so I had to stay at my friend's place. We made different set ups, tried different locations and all. Mine was the last part. In order to depict earth revolving uniformly I myself tried to make rotations to personify the entire concept. Started looking at the sun and rotated to a point where I f

Phase of life which took 90s kid to colours. Tinky winky, Dipsy, Lala and  Po were always my favourite. It had influenced me to a great extent when I used to start finding red and yellow to be the most captivating colours in the contrast of green grass fields where the played.

Rhythm Emphasis Balance An accordion book of visual composition Random study on composition  Visual composition is to put elements together so that human eye categorises them in specific order according to the principles of art. This principle is valid mainly in photography and logo design where eye catches the inner inner sense of a specific composition. There are similarities in some of the concepts that we often gets confused about the categorisation. We usually assort to whatever seems more prominent and method of elimination can also be applied in such cases.

Colour theory - Life as we know it

Group members : Anjana, Athulya, Abhishek, Ruchit The concept creation was an easy task since I have came across so much in life. We need experiences to create a story. The day from where life was timid, happy and simple when I was a kid to a point where we were mostly confused and energetic teens with a fluctuating level of hormones to an adulthood where in we try to develop a balance all the elements of life and accepts life as it is and endlessly trying to make it better. Colour speaks a lot. I really enjoyed dubbing and making sounds for the audio. This was one of the most difficult things we faced online. Anjana was doing the visuals, Abhishek was ready with story board. We kept on changing things until we were satisfied with the standards. Enjoyed doing the fight scene where me and my brother actually induced a fight with knives. I could learn more about the sync between visuals and audio. In a duration of 2-3 days I could learn two softwares ( Audition and N-track), some virtu

What music does to flavours.

How well dark chocolate melts with instrumental music! Onam has always been the most colourful imaginable thing I ever came across. Onam fest is a mix of emotions, flavours and colours. So here is how it syncs with some Onamish music. Now here comes a candy from my childhood. "time bomb" which has all the filled liquidy sourness at the centre and when it bursts it is like we reach the epitome of flavours and then it declines and neutralises.  Learnt to enjoy every bit of it, distinguish each flavours, connect it with thoughts and mindfulness and it has made me glide to a fairy tale where even taste, smell, feelings, thoughts everything can be painted and anything can be connected with everything around.

Gestalt laws.

Gestalt principles are laws of human perceptions that helps in identifying patters, how humans categorise similar elements and simplify complex images to simpler ones. According to the study mind identifies what the eyes sees by perceiving a number of individual element as a whole. 1. Similarity :  elements that are similar to each other are perceived as unified group. It can be in colour, orientation, size, motion etc . 2 . Symmetry:   elements that are symmetrical to each other are perceived as a unified group. 3. Proximity:  eye tends to build a relationship between elements of the same design 4 . Figure and ground:  Identifying a figure or meaningful image from the background. 5. Continuity:  the tendency to perceive a line continuing in its established direction.      6. Closure:  e ven if there is a break we tend to perceive the object in a continuous/ complete form.

Change in colour changes perception

Actual image Light and colour are two funny things. They play magical notes at times that it confuses any observer. Here are some pictures which could induce changes in my perception of colour. See what it does to you! :) According to my tricky brain I could conclude that the yellow actually gave an artificial or anime effect, blue is more like a formal one like an event in an office, red with some auspicious effect or a red carpet effect and green is the real picture - the natural one may be.
